Biography
Dr. Rownaghi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Miami. An internationally recognized researcher and academic leader, he has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 53) and holds multiple U.S. patents in materials, energy, and environmental systems. His research bridges nanoporous materials synthesis and scalable advanced reaction and separation technologies, with applications in membrane reactors, gas separations, carbon capture-utilization, and negative-emission technologies. By integrating catalysis and separation, his work enables more energy-efficient processes for producing clean water, energy, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals while addressing global sustainability and carbon-management challenges.
