Biography

HOU Yang is a tenured professor and Qiushi Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University, a doctoral supervisor, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He currently serves as the Dean of the School of Biological and Chemical Engineering at NingboTech University, Vice Dean of the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute at Zhejiang University, Director of the Hydrogen Production Technology Center of the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute at Zhejiang University, and is a recipient of the Zhejiang University “Hundred Talents Program”. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), a specially appointed expert of Zhejiang Province, a recipient of the Zhejiang Provincial High-Level Talent Program (Innovation Long-Term), and a recipient of the Zhejiang Provincial “Outstanding Youth” Fund. He has been named a Clarivate Analytics “Highly Cited Researcher” (2020–2025), a Top 0.05% Highly Cited Scholar worldwide, a Top 2% Highly Cited Scholar worldwide (2019–2024) with lifetime scientific impact, a Top 100,000 Global Scientist (2023–2024), a Highly Cited Chinese Researcher (Elsevier), a National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry, and has received the Lu Jiaxi Outstanding Mentor Award, the Hou Debang Young Scientific and Technological Award in Chemical Engineering, the “Young Scientific and Technological Outstanding Contribution Award” from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the Young Particle Science Award of the Chinese Society of Particuology, the China Industry-University-Research Collaboration Innovation Award, and the Distinguished Innovation Award of the American Society of Engineering Science. As the lead recipient, he has won the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Chinese Society of Particuology, the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Chemical Society, the Third Prize of the Natural Science Award of Zhejiang Province, the Third Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and received a nomination for the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award and the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of Liaoning Province. He has mentored numerous master’s and doctoral students who have received Excellent Master’s and Doctoral Dissertation Awards from Zhejiang University.
