Biography

Prof. Daniel HISSEL, PhD, FIEEE,is a Full Professor at the Université Marie et Louis Pasteur, France. Since 2012, he is the Head of the “Hydrogen-energy systems, production, storage, and conversion of electricity” research team at the FEMTO-ST (CNRS) Institute. His main research activities revolve around hydrogen systems dedicated to automotive and stationary applications. Since 2020, he is also the Deputy Director of the French national hydrogen research federation (CNRS), gathering about 600 researchers on hydrogen technologies in France. For his work towards industrialisation of hydrogen systems, he has obtained in 2017 the Blondel Medal of the SEE, in 2020 the Innovation Medal of the CNRS, and in 2024 the Gold Medal of the Society for Encouragement of Progress. He is a Fellow of IEEE, and holds a senior innovation chair at the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) since 2022.
