Biography

My short bio: Dr. Tan Shu Fen is a Research Lead at the Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development (MESD) Centre of Excellence, where she spearheads initiatives in renewable energy and decarbonisation. Since joining MESD in October 2024, she has led and contributed to high-impact projects focused on alternative fuels, including methanol, ethanol, ammonia, and biofuels. An alumna of the National University of Singapore (B.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry), Dr. Tan’s expertise was further honed during her postdoctoral tenure at MIT, specialising in advanced characterisation for energy conversion. A recipient of the prestigious NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship (2022), she currently bridges the gap between academic research and industry-funded solutions for a sustainable future.
